Gulf Robot Olympiad concludes

Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, with winners of Gulf Robot Olympiad
Muscat: The Ministry of Education and in the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, concluded the Gulf Robot Olympiad under the auspices of Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, and in the presence of Dr Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Asmi, Director-General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States.
The minister and guests toured the exhibition and listened to the students about their work.
In his speech Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Under-Secretary of the MoE for Education, said: “Nurturing innovators, paying attention to them, and supporting them as they are the true wealth of the nations is one of the most important priorities of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Yemen. We celebrate today the first edition Gulf Robot Olympiad, which is hosted by Oman. Today, we are witnessing the end of the brilliant journey of the Gulf Robot Olympiad, which based its competitions on three main themes: the robot challenge, scientific innovation, and societal impact, to perform its mission in achieving its humanitarian goals in accordance with modern scientific methodology in its latest version of scientific knowledge to enhance the application of artificial intelligence for sustainable solutions, as well as promoting social responsibility.”
Sultan al Fahdi, a student of Abu Ubaida Basic Education School in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, spoke on behalf of students. “It is a great honor to stand among you today, welcoming your honorable gathering in the land of knowledge, science, love, and harmony. It is an opportunity to convey my and my fellow participants’ thanks, appreciation, and gratitude for the countless initiatives of the Arab Education Bureau for the Gulf States in the field of education, including this valuable scientific initiative, which indicates the Bureau’s keenness and interest in school students, and providing them with programs, skills, and advanced technologies in various sciences.”
At the end of the ceremony, Dr Madeeha honored the winners of the Gulf Robot Olympiad. In Robot Challenge, Kuwait came first followed by Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. In Innovation, the Qatar team came in first place, Bahrain came second and Oman third. In the Community Impact, Bahrain won the award, the UAE team won the Effective Communication Award, and the Expressive Poster Award was won by Yemen.
The Gulf Robotics Olympiad aims to develop students’ knowledge and skills in robotics, which include engineering, mathematics, science, and technology. It aims to train students on administrative practices in designing technical projects and scientific research methodologies, develop leadership traits among students, and empower them with leadership tools appropriate to technical and artificial intelligence projects. It also aims at enhancing the spirit of positive competition to achieve common results that serve students and constitute a societal concern.
