Muscat International Film Festival begins
The 11th edition of the Muscat International Film Festival got under way under the auspices of Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), on Sunday.

The five-day festival of films from across the region and beyond, to be on till March 7 and will be showing feature films, shorties, documentaries and animation films across several screens in the capital area.



While Iranian film ‘The Guard’ by Abotaleb Sadegh Daghighi set the ball rolling, Yaser Ahmed and Behruz Bagheri’s ‘Exchange’’ and ‘Rose Water’ by Mahmood al Shaikh took the inaugural day to further heights.

Works of acclaimed film-makers from countries as far as the US, Tunisia, Iran and Morocco, besides from GCC and Middle East are making their presence felt during the festival days, according to the organisers, Oman Film Society (OFS).

The Muscat International Film Festival, organised under the slogan ‘Renewed Oman’ has grown to be a major film festival in the region and far beyond with the participation of jury members and guests from across the world over the years.
