University of Technology and Applied Sciences held 20th annual sports championship for women were held from February 20 to 25 in Suhar This championship is in line with the university's commitment to achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040 by supporting and enhancing the role of women in sports and developing citizenship values.



Dr. Huda bint Salem bin Hamdan al Shailiya, Vice Chancellor of the University for IT and student services, said the sports championship is part of their university journey, stressing that the development of students goes beyond the academic aspect.

This championship provided an opportunity for students to get to know each other and exchange experiences in games.



A wide and diverse participation is expected in sports such as football, volleyball, chess, badminton, and electronic games.

Dr Hilal Almaqbali, deputy dean, said: “The championship witnessed participation of 300 students from different branches of the University around the Sultanate of Oman.



Students from Muscat, Al Musannah, Rustaq, Salalah, Sur, Ibri, Ibra, Shinas, Nizwa and Suhar took part.

The event also included competitions in football, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, chess, and electronic games, which were organized for the first time in the tournament.

The university also allowed women and girls from the local community to attend the competitions.
