All set for Sur Maritime Heritage Festival from Sunday

The Sur Maritime Heritage Festival, which begins on Sunday in Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, aims to highlight the historical role of the governorate in the past and the present, promote and introduce the maritime heritage and tourism components of Al Sharqiyah South Governorate and stimulate tourism in the governorate. The festival continues until March 9.
The festival, organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of Al Sharqiyah South and several government and private agencies, includes activities of the marine heritage village, which tells the story of the maritime heritage of the Wilayat of Sur, known in the past for its maritime activity and includes a corner dedicated to craft industries. The festival will also feature heritage sessions, a popular café, a theatre for recreational and cultural events and activities, popular games and traditional arts performances related to the sea.
The Omani Food Carnival will have a series of interactive activities that allows visitors to explore the most famous Omani and international dishes, with a focus on fresh seafood from local sources to reflect the richness of marine wealth of the governorate, in addition to heritage and entertainment shows.
The festival will include events such as a windsurfing experience, a sailing experience, a marine fishing competition, a symposium on maritime heritage (images of man and the sea), a traditional boat race, a display of traditional Omani games and sports, in addition to a kite flying to offering tourism experiences through a visit to Oman.
