ESG Oman triumph in fifth round of JPL GCC Cup series
MUSCAT: ESG Football Academy Under-13 Boys were crowned champions in Bahrain recently. The boys flew the flag of Oman high winning the fifth round of the JPL GCC Cup series making it back-to-back wins for ESG having already won Round 4 which was held here in Muscat last December.
Eleven teams from across the GCC competed in Bahrain with ESG eventually lifting the trophy beating Tekkers Academy of Bahrain 2-0 in the final.
ESG coach Haitham said: “It’s amazing what these boys have achieved, and I’m absolutely delighted for them. They deserve all the praise for they will get. It was a tough weekend in Bahrain playing 17 matches in 2 days and especially as we didn’t start to well."
"Credit to the boys that they responded very well and raised their game on day 2 which enabled them to lift the trophy. We’ll continue working hard on the training field as there is always room to develop and improve."
"I’d like to thank Gulf Divers Oman for their belief in what we are doing in giving the kids these fantastic opportunities and life experiences and also our amazing loyal ESG parents who gave the team an awesome welcome home at Muscat Airport,” Haitham added.
