Musandam branch excels with 146 enrollments for first academic semester

The university has organised an orientation week to introduce new students to the university's facilities, academic programmes, regulations, and laws.
KHASAB: The University of Technology and Applied Science (UTAS) Musandam has welcomed 5,014 enrolled students for the second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year across its 11 branches. Among these students, 2,434 are male, and 2,580 are female. Notably, the Musandam Governorate branch has marked its first academic semester with 146 students.
The university has organised an orientation week from February 4 to 8, designed to introduce new students to the university's facilities, academic programmes, regulations, and laws. During this week, students will undergo placement tests in English, mathematics, and computer science for the foundational year. Orientation activities include registration procedures, email account setup, financial allocations, student awareness, understanding of the academic system, major exploration, and registration processes. Valuable advice for academic success will also be provided.
Dr Said bin Hamad Al Rubai, the university president, commended the newly accepted students, encouraging them to excel and benefit from the experienced faculty and staff. He emphasised the importance of dedication, goal-striving, skill development, ethical commitment, and positive representation of the university in local and international arenas.
Dr Al Rubai affirmed the university's commitment to Oman Vision 2040.
Deans of the university branches extended a warm welcome to the new students, stressing the importance of embracing responsibility, seeking knowledge, acquiring new skills, and developing their personalities to align with the demands of the job market.
Regarding the start of the academic year, Dr Ahmed bin Saeed bin Ahmed Al Shuhri, Assistant to the President at the Musandam branch, expressed his joy in receiving the new batch of students. He highlighted the university's efforts to create a robust scientific environment, equip students with various scientific and knowledge specialties, and develop necessary skills across different fields.
Dr Al Shuhri discussed the Musandam branch's preparations for approximately 150 students, including the recruitment of administrative and academic staff, setup of facilities and laboratories, provision of equipment, and development of plans, programmes, and curricula. He emphasised the collaborative efforts of the university staff to ensure the timely completion of the branch's preparations.
The Musandam branch will offer several academic specialties and programmes tailored to meet the requirements of the job market, including Economics and Business Administration, Information Technology, and Educational Studies.
UTAS remains committed to developing qualified human resources across various fields, fostering an environment supportive of scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and collaborating effectively with various community institutions.
