With 18 countries in participation at the International Conference for Floral Artists at National Museum, Oman is making attempts to make the country a floral tourism destination.

The International Conference for Floral Artists which began on January 28, is organised in collaboration with the World Association for Floral Artists (WAFA) to celebrate flowers and to explore Oman’s possibilities to grow unique flowers and features artists and enthusiasts worldwide in the art of flower arrangement.

“Oman has greater possibilities to develop itself as a flower destination, thanks to the sublime weather and soil complementing plants of various kinds and to excel in flower cultivation,” said Madhvi Khimji, organiser of the exhibition.

The exhibition aims to promote the art of flower arranging, enhance the exchange of ideas related to the art and its associated interests, conserve natural and environmental resources, and strengthen connections among the World Association for Floral Artists (WAFA) members.

A series of events, lectures, and workshops highlighting the participants’ skills and creativity in flower arranging, besides various guided tours and introduction to the activities of the National Museum are also part of the conference.

Side by side, an international competition is being held for participating members, along with live presentations on arranging and shaping artistic displays using diverse flowers.

Well acclaimed floral artists, including international arranger Madhu Shah from Australia, Kitty Gallanghar from Ireland and Poornima Subramanian from Oman are delivering the presentations.

The World Association for Floral Artists (WAFA) is a not for profit association, non-partisan organisation of International floral art societies. It was formed in 1981. Through its worldwide scope, WAFA enhances the diversity of floral art form by transcending International cultural barriers and bringing together fresh ideas.
