Measures to improve infrastructure facilities in Wakan village
MUSCAT: In implementation of the Royal directives issued by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to set a schedule for developing the village of Wakan, a ministerial team visited the village to inspect services and to check the proposed route of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar road.
The ministerial team had Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Eng Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Dr Khalfan bin Said al Shueili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Eng Masoud bin Said al Hashmi, Governor of Al Batinah South, and Shaikh Khalifa bin Saleh al Busaidy, Wali of Nakhal.
The village of Wakan in Wadi Mastal in the Wilayat of Nakhal is witnessing a great visitor turnout at this time of the year as it is one of the most wonderful tourist attractions. It combines a mountainous and plain nature and boasts archaeological landmarks that are deeply rooted in history.
In order to improve tourism services in the village of Wakan, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism worked on the infrastructure in the village. The ministry built a 1.1-km rock steps walkway that leads to the highest peak in the village. At the end of the 700-step walkway you look down on a valley extending from the borders of the village to the end of the foothills of the mountains surrounding the Wilayat of Nakhal known as Wadi Mastal.
