SHARJAH: The Omani National Transport Company (Mwasalat), part of Asyad Group, signed a passenger transportation agreement with the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority — the authority responsible for supervising the road and transportation sectors in the Emirate of Sharjah — to operate passenger transportation trips via buses on a daily basis between Muscat Governorate and the Emirate of Sharjah, back and forth, in an important step towards enhancing cooperation in the field of international land passenger transport.

The agreement was signed by Badr bin Mohammed al Nadabi, CEO of Mwasalat and Eng Yousef bin Khamis al Othmani, Chairman of Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, in the presence of officials from both sides at the Authority’s headquarters in Sharjah

The new service aims to expand and strengthen the international bus transport network between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates, enhance tourism movement between the two brotherly countries, and provide the greatest possible amount of comfort, time and transportation options for travelers.

Badr bin Mohammed al Nadabi, CEO of Mwasalat, said, “The signing of the agreement is the culmination of joint efforts to strengthen the international transport network between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates, as it will contribute to strengthening and enhancing cooperation in vital fields such as transport and tourism between the two brotherly countries.”

He added that Mwasalat is looking forward to providing an exceptional travel experience for passengers, as these flights will be integrated with other transportation routes in the Sultanate, which will provide access to several destinations in both countries. This step is consistent with Mwasalat’s ambitious goals to become a regional transport operator by applying world-class standards.

Engineer Yousef bin Khamis al Othmani, Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority in the Emirate of Sharjah, stressed the importance of this cooperation, pointing out that the signing of the agreement came from the standpoint of enhancing joint cooperation between the two sides to serve the logistics sector, and in line with the Authority’s strategy aimed at enhancing mass passenger transport trips, by launching New services that provide safe and sustainable means of transportation, which would encourage customers to use public transportation, which the Authority provides as part of its comprehensive development plan.
