Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation has reassured all students at Sur University College that their interests will be protected and urged them to follow certain procedures within a time frame.

The Ministry, on January 1, 2024, decided to automatically stop the validity of the scholarship for all students on scholarship at Sur University College for the first semester of the academic year (2023/2024) without counting this within the scholarship period and without any action required to be taken by the students in this regard.

Second: New students (the 24th batch) accepted into the academic year have their electronic files on the Ministry’s website.

Text messages were sent to students on December 31, 2023, regarding the opening of student admissions to any of the private higher education institutions based on their choice, during the period from (January 1 - 14, 2024), taking into account the compatibility of the academic qualification (Bachelor’s Diploma) and the field of knowledge that they were accepted by the Unified Admission Center.

Students on various internal scholarship programs and scholarships who are currently studying will be open to the door for transfers for this category of students electronically through the student file on the website of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation between January 17 and 31 (2024), provided that the students choose an alternative educational institution, taking into account the compatibility of the academic qualification (diploma/bachelor) and specialization so that it is in the same field of knowledge in which they are enrolled.

Fourth: Students expected to graduate by the end of the first semester of the academic year (2023/2024) must contact the Ministry, represented by the Directorate General of Scholarships, Department of Internal Scholarships, to follow up on their academic conditions and advise them of the procedures that must be followed regarding the conduct of their scholarship and the options available to them in this regard.

For students studying at their own expense at all levels of study, the ministry will send a circular to other institutions as support for students and to facilitate their university studies (such as housing and transportation) on the following points:

Graduate Students: Facilitating the process of transferring college students to these institutions according to their current academic status and accepting the transfer of academic subjects and their academic performance.

The Ministry will coordinate with those in charge of the Sur University College to appoint a specialized employee on its part who will be entrusted with the task of counting the number of graduates and sending their document data to the Ministry’s certification procedures, provided that the College pledges that the employee will carry out all his duties until the certification of all graduates’ documents is completed, and the College will address the matter before the end of this month.

It will facilitate the transfer process for students who have only a few academic subjects or one semester left to complete their remaining subjects/semesters.

It stressed the need for students to adhere to the specified dates so that they can complete their studies in alternative educational institutions based on the admissions they have obtained and in line with the academic calendar of those institutions.
