Development strategy in Musadam bears fruition

 
Khasab: The Governorate of Musandam is witnessing a historical moment of its development march reflecting the government’s keenness to convert the governorate into an investment hub capable of housing major public projects in the logistics of tourism sectors.

Among the most notable infrastructure projects currently under implementation in Musandam Governorate that is expected to boost prosperity in the governorate is the Khasab-Lima-Dibba road. Once open, the road will shorten the distance between the wilayats of the governorate as well as contribute to tourist attraction. Last year, the governorate received about 60 ships carrying 156,000 tourists from across the world.

Tourism wise, there is a project that aims to develop the waterfront in the Niyabat of Lima and another project for developing the waterfront in the Wilayat of Bukha in addition to Al Shati Park within the waterfront. Also under implementation is a project for developing the fishing port in the Wilayat of Dibba which includes 4 packages of facilities including facilitations for fishermen such as the fixed berth, two floating berths and a slide for launching and taking out boats and facilities for traditional tourist boats.

Other projects include wave breakers in the villages of Al Jari and Ghammaa in the Wilayat of Bukha. The two projects cost approximately RO 2,500,00. A project is also underway in the Wilayat of Bukha to replace the main water distribution network.

There is a project to establish a hospital in the Wilayat of Mad’ha which is nearing completion. The hospital will have 18 specialized clinics and utilize the latest medical technologies and equipment.

Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Governor of Musandam said that the government is accorded attention from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik through following up and evaluating the projects to be more beneficial for the governorate’s economy and the country’s economy in general.

The governor added: “The general outlook for the economic and social development strategy in Musandam Governorate has been adapted to yield the best economic results in the shortest possible period by providing and securing logistical connectivity with the rest of the governorates. It also adds activity and movement to Musandam Governorate with regard to other sectors. It is important to focus on the logistics sector which includes strategic areas such as improving the civil aviation sector and internal connectivity between the coastal wilayats of Bukha, Khasab and Dibba. This sector also involves improving shipping and ground handling operations at the sea ports of the coastal wilayats through several projects.

Speaking about the details of those projects, the governor stated that during the previous five-year development plan, the 38-km coastal road linking Taibat and the Wilayat of Khasab was completed. A project for constructing a road linking the Wilayat Khasab and the Wilayat of Dibba via the Neyabat of Lima was awarded. It is a 70-km strategic road that secures land transportation between the two wilayats.
