UTAS students bag 10 awards at GCC competition

The university participated in the fourth edition of the forum, hosted by Oman at Sultan Qaboos University from January 7 to 9.
Muscat: University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) clinched 10 diverse awards at the Fourth Cultural and Scientific Forum for Female Students, which involved universities and higher education institutions from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Notably, the university secured first place in the short story competition, solo musical performance, and second place in script writing, chanting, solo singing, poster design, photography, and infographics design. Additionally, the university attained third place in the first-level Holy Quran memorisation competition and received an encouragement award in the scientific research competition.
The university participated in the fourth edition of the forum, hosted by Oman at Sultan Qaboos University from January 7 to 9. A total of 27 students competed in 18 categories, with 10 of them achieving top three positions. These participations contribute to enhancing students' involvement in local and international forums and events, providing opportunities for networking and exploring various fields. The experience creates a motivating environment for building confidence, enhancing capabilities, and acquiring diverse skills. It also plays a role in academically, technically, and professionally qualifying students in technical and applied fields, fostering creativity, innovation, scientific research, and lifelong continuous self-learning.
Manar bint Mohammed al Burtamaniyah, who secured the first place in short story, said: 'The literary student forum is a representation of literary culture, allowing you to live enjoyable and enriching moments through its artistic templates, poetic music and lively silent tragic drawings. The forum provided me with a significant experience that deepened my understanding of the essence of the short story and observing the mentioned characters as they live perpetual lives in various auditory and visual transitions.'
Roa'a bint Saeed al Shueiliyah, who won the second place in photography, shared her thoughts: 'My participation in the photography competition was driven by the importance of developing my talent. I am grateful to have achieved second place. The forum provided me with many experiences and opportunities to meet my colleagues from different Gulf Cooperation Council countries, greatly contributing to honing my communication skills and competition among female students. I feel immense pride because the forum was organised by Oman and Sultan Qaboos University, showcasing exceptional creativity and excellence.'
Nada bint Mohammed bin Saeed al Duhainiyah, who secured the second place in the theatrical script writing competition, stated: 'Participating in the field of theatrical script writing brought me great joy and winning the second place in this forum is truly rewarding. Such participation add a lot to female students, refining their talents and introducing them to participants from the Gulf Cooperation Council, contributing significantly to sharing new ideas in this field.'
