OHA, Omantel as tech partner for Oman Hockey 5s World Cup

Muscat: Omantel, the leading provider of integrated technology and telecommunications company in Sultanate of Oman, has proudly become a technical partner for the Hockey 5s World Cup. Omantel and the Omani Hockey Association signed an agreement to sponsor the 'Oman 2024' Hockey 5s World Cup for both men and women. The tournament is set to take place in Sultanate of Oman from January 24 to 31, featuring the participation of 32 teams from various countries around the world.
The signing ceremony occurred at Omantel's headquarters in Al Irfan City and was attended by Eng Aladdin bin Abdullah Bait Fadhil, Chief Commercial Officer at Omantel and Dr Marwan bin Juma al Juma, Chairman of the Omani Hockey Association. The agreement designates Omantel as the technology partner for the tournament, making it one of the prominent supporters of the event.
The agreement extends beyond the Hockey 5s World Cup, as Omantel will also sponsor the qualifying rounds for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Paris 2024, scheduled from January 15 to 21. Aladdin bin Abdullah Bait Fadhil, Chief Commercial Officer at Omantel, emphasised that this partnership reflects Omantel's role in supporting sports and Omani athletes through collaborations with various sports federations. Omantel, being a leading national telecommunications company, is also the largest supporter of the sports sector in Sultanate of Oman.
Aladdin bin Abdullah Bait Fadhil added that the agreement signifies Omantel's commitment to working with the organising committee and the Omani Hockey Federation to ensure the success of these sporting events. Hosting the Hockey 5s World Cup is particularly significant, placing the Sultanate of Oman on the global sports map at the beginning of 2024. The visibility through international broadcast of the championship's events and matches will contribute to economic, cultural and touristic benefits.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth organised an event to honour contributors in sports activities, where Omantel's diverse contributions to supporting sports in Oman were recognised. These include sponsoring sports federations, supporting the Sultanate of Oman's participation in the Gulf Cup, sponsoring the 'Omantel League', and supporting various sports entities such as table tennis, cricket, golf, the 2022 Asian Hockey Federation Cup, the international falconry championship in Duqm, and the Asia Amateur Chess Championship. Omantel also supports Oman's eSports and gaming community, in addition to endorsing Omani athletes like international racer Ahmed al Harthy and Omani diver Al Ghailani.
