@kabeeryousefSultan Qaboos University (SQU) will host the fourth science and culture forum from Sunday January 7, according to the spokesperson of the university.

As many as 182 female students from 16 universities have already registered to attend the three-day event that aims at empowering female students, while helping them develop their cultural and scientific knowledge.

It is part of a series of initiatives hosted by the GCC countries to build a better future for female students in the region as an increasing number of GCC female students enrolled in higher education institutions are gearing up to attend the event.

“SQU always recognises the pioneering Omani national mission that puts education, youth, research, and innovation at the heart of its unwavering commitment to these matters,” said the spokesperson.

Through effective communication and interaction, the forum aims to empower and motivate female students in GCC, while also enhancing shared values. It will provide a platform for female students to discuss challenges, share experiences, and develop solutions.

Additionally, it will enable them to network and build relationships with their peers.

While the forum will also provide a platform for female students to display their talents and abilities, several programmes have been established to enhance the talents of these students so they could contribute to the ever-renewing GCC Renaissance.

“The forum seeks to improve the value of mutual respect between GCC female students by creating new channels and means for connecting and interacting with each other. Besides providing new opportunities to explore untouched fields of knowledge, cultural and scientific issues, it also demonstrates the talents, creativity, and innovative ideas that will be displayed throughout the forum. Furthermore, students will be able to improve their decision-making skills by learning skills like leadership.”

Four main categories of the competition will be featured at the forum including religion (Quran recitation, prophetic speech, religious chanting), culture (literature competition, debate), arts (arts and short-movies competition, photography, and digital arts) as well as science (medical, technological, environmental, economic, and humanistic research).

It is envisioned as a platform for GCC female students to engage in cultural and scientific competitions that will enable them to be institutionally distinguished in these areas. Through this platform, female students can gain recognition for their hard work and dedication. It can also help to motivate them to pursue further academic and professional opportunities. It can also help create a network of female professionals in the region.
