Omani trailblazers reach North Pole in a classic car
Classic cars are far more enthusiastic to travel than by airplanes to enjoy wonderful trips around the world. A group of passionate Omanis undertook an extraordinary road trip to the North Pole in a classic Nissan ZX 280 in a 1982 model.
In 40 days, the team had the honour of enjoying rich history, diverse cultural tapestry, and breathtaking landscapes. This alone has ignited the passion of classic car lovers to undertake similar journeys.
Ameer Al Mahrizi, Ahmed Al Saadi, Nasser Al Quraini and Muath Al Saadi were part of the 20,000 kilometres trip touring 23 countries.
They shared that one of the most amazing moments of the trip was when they met others who shared the same spirit of wanderlust.
Rashid Al Mazmi and Mohammed Al Hoti from the UAE joined them from Iraq, passing by Turkey, to Bosnia. In addition to the famous Saudi traveler, Saleh Al Ayed who traveled the world on his bicycle and then continued his impassioned journey in his superb motorbike. They met in Austria and spent a whole day together amused by the iconic destinations. From Kuwait, they met with Haider Bather and Ali Bather who joined them in Austria and spent several days with them touring around Zell am See, Salzburg as well as Gross Peak.
“Meeting those wonderful men from the neighboring countries made us feel the strength of our relationship and it is surely a cause of pride to share such an experience with dear brothers,” Ameer said.
Emotionally speaking, Iraq has stolen the group’s hearts with its people’s generosity and kindness, which made them feel exactly like they were in their homes.
Norway was captivating and eye-catching, in terms of natural beauty. Only a few places on Earth offer the same level of inspirational beauty where every amount of money spent is an investment and mental well-being.
The group explored 23 countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, France, Germany, Czech, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden and finally Norway.
They made sure to keep Oman in their hearts making sure it was well represented wherever they went. That was achieved in the presence of the Omani costume along the journey.
Traveling from the fantastic Pare Mountains to the green forests was not that easy as the group faced some challenges.
“The trip costed RO 10,000, which was a fortune, and we hope that the competent authorities in Oman might sponsor such trips in the future,” Ameer said.
Ameer also recommends such trips for young people who are aspiring to get out of their comfort zones and try something new. It is an opportunity to open up to new cultures, make bonds with people from all over the world, and enjoy a variety of incredible sceneries.
