CAA revamps paragliding safety and regulations
Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Wednesday has announced an overhaul of the Hang-Gliding permitting procedures in Oman.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the central body overseeing aviation activities, has ratified a critical cooperation agreement with the Omani Aviation Sports Committee (OASC) and the International Association of Hang-Gliding Pilots and Instructors (APPI). This agreement is a cornerstone in the CAA's efforts to streamline paragliding activities in Oman. It aims to share and update educational resources extensively, ensuring that pilot licensing and trainer preparation meet international standards.
In addition to this, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the CAA and the Omani Committee for Air Sports. This MoU is a strategic move to regulate recreational aviation activities more effectively. A significant aspect of this understanding is the preparation of a comprehensive training policy document, which is expected to lay down clear guidelines and protocols for paragliding and other air sports.
Underpinning these developments is the CAA's firm stance on safety. The authority has reiterated the paramount importance of adhering to safety regulations and standards when flying paragliders.
