MUSCAT: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in cooperation with the Development Bank organised the Rural Muscat Forum, at Avani Muscat Hotel, on Wednesday.

The forum aims to empower and support Omani women in the fields of agriculture and fisheries The forum aims to shed light on rural activities and products in order to empower and raise the skills and capabilities of rural women as well as support them in increasing family income and improving their personal income.

The forum witnessed 5 working papers that dealt with the role of the Development Bank in empowering women, the role of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in empowering women and helping them with the registration and contributions to social insurance.

The event also included an exhibition for productive families that showcased various rural women’s products, such as honey, vegetable products, skin care products, palm leaf crafts, among others.

Abdulhameed bin Saleh al Darmaki, Director of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Department, delivered a speech about the Rural Muscat Forum in which he explained that the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources is working to empower, train and qualify women in the fields of local industries in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 which aims to implementing integrated social protection programmes directed to groups most in need of empowerment to enable them to contribute to the national economy. —ONA
