Forum brings together seafaring committees in Dhofar Governorate

SALALAH: The General Directorate of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Dhofar Governorate on Tuesday organised a forum for members of Seafaring Committees in the governorate.
The event was held under the auspices of Eng Yaqoub bin Khalfan al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Fisheries.
The committees, tasked with regulating the activities of fishing, were formed in various wilayats in the Sultanate of Oman more than 20 years ago.
The forum saw the presentation of two working papers, the first dealt with the “regulatory system” of fishing and the second focused on the “purviews and recommendations” of seafaring committees.
The event also included a visual display featuring the components of fish resources in Dhofar Governorate.
Outstanding members of the panels and top performers were honoured at the conclusion of the forum. — ONA
