Nativity Scene in Sand!

People visit the Belen de Arena (Sand Nativity Scene) on Las Canteras beach in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on Wednesday. The sand nativity scene of Las Palmas dates back to 2006. Since then, every year a different theme is chosen to shape this ephemeral nativity scene. This year’s edition brings together 9 sand-sculptors who have created eight Christmas scenes. In one of them, depicting “The flight into Egypt” gospel, the artist dedicates it to the people enduring the harsh impact of the war in Gaza. — AFP
