SUHAR: The second edition of the Youth Initiatives Forum 2023 organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth in the Wilayat of Suhar began last week.

The forum was held under the patronage of Dr Rashid bin Saif al Mahroozi, Member of the Council, will look into 40 initiatives and will have 88 participants from various governorates of Oman.

The forum aims to empower and encourage youths to actively contribute to societal development. The three-day event concludes on Tuesday, December 12.

It serves as a platform for innovative, creative, and entrepreneurial ideas, transforming them into effective community projects. It also fosters community engagement, cultivates a culture of participation, develops their skills, and contributes to building sustainable communities.

Comprising 17 youth activities from various governorates of Oman, the forum includes a special section dedicated to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

It features an artistic memorabilia corner, a youth initiative forum presenting innovative initiatives, and a dialogue session focusing on empowering youth initiatives in the governorates.

Several workshops and discussions cover diverse topics such as Artificial Intelligence, inspirational speeches, musical performances, and dialogues about creative morning initiatives, sustainability for non-profit projects, and knowledge exploration through youth activities.

Mohammed bin Marhoon al Maktoumi, overseeing the Youth Initiatives Department and heading the organising committee, highlighted the forum's theme, ‘Youth Creating the Future.’

He emphasised its role in showcasing impactful voluntary youth initiatives across Oman, aiming to familiarise, develop, and enhance their capacities while fostering interactive activities during the forum.

Ahmed bin Rashid al Maqbali, Head of Youth Activity at the Directorate General of Culture, Sports and Youth in Al Batinah North Governorate, underlined the event's significance in highlighting youth potentials and talents.

He stressed the role of these initiatives in addressing societal challenges positively, fostering active citizenship, and creating innovative solutions.

Samia bint Murad al Balushi, founder of the initiative ‘Seen,’ emphasised the forum's role in gathering societal initiatives from various regions, enabling the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and proposing developmental suggestions.

Additionally, it symbolises a platform for dialogue, interaction, and addressing challenges faced by initiatives, aligning with the principles of decentralisation and unifying efforts across governorates.

The forum's broader perspective extends to the ‘Future Outlook Forum,’ organised by Seen Group, introducing youths to future foresight concepts, providing skills to analyse global and local trends, aligning with Oman’s Vision 2040, employment markets, and future skills.

It engages 100 young participants, including university students, employees, and job seekers, facilitated by experts in future foresight, strategic planning, and skill development.

The Youth Initiatives Forum 2023 in Suhar stands as a testament to Oman’s commitment to empowering its youth, fostering innovation, and building a sustainable society.
