MUSCAT: The Omantel League's tenth round concluded on Sunday with an unexpected turn of events as Ibri secured a resounding 3-0 victory against Sohar on their home turf. The match showcased Ibri's dominance and strategic play, leaving Sohar in a challenging position.

The match began contrary to expectations, with the guest team Ibri dominating the first half by playing a build-up style from the back.

Sohar responded with poor pressure and organisation in their defence. Ibri had the first dangerous opportunity in the fourth minute, which the professional player Bruno Pires missed as Sohar goalkeeper skillfully saved it. Sohar retaliated with a fierce attack in the fifth minute, but Frank Williams failed to capitalise.

The back-and-forth continued until the 16th minute when Kleber Calil, the Brazilian player for Ibri, skillfully netted the first goal after a precise pass from Fahad al Hajri. Ibri continued to control the game and extended their lead to 2-0 in the 19th minute through a goal by Youssef al Ghafri, who skillfully dribbled past Sohar's defenders and goalkeeper to score.

As Sohar struggled to recover from the 2-0 deficit, Dhofar maintained control, creating several opportunities for a third goal, but luck was not on their side. The first half concluded with Dhofar leading 2-0.

The second half continued with the same rhythm. In the 52nd minute, a free-kick was expertly executed by Youssef al Ghafri, setting up Bruno for the third goal. Despite subsequent attacks from both teams, the match concluded with Ibri securing a convincing 3-0 win.

With this result, Sohar missed the opportunity to secure second place, remaining at 18 points.

Ibri climbed to fifth place in the league table with 15 points, trailing behind Al Nasr on goal difference.

Ibri continued to showcase impressive performances, maintaining five consecutive clean sheets under the guidance of their coach Ali al Balushi, despite being promoted to the Premier League for the first time in their history.

OMAN CLUB BLANK AL WAHDA

In another match, Oman defeated Al Wahda 3-0 on Sunday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.

Oman Club entered the game with a high-pressure style, attempting to secure the three points and jump to third place after Sohar's loss. Al Wahda players struggled against Oman, and Basal al Rawahi scored the first goal for Oman in the 21st minute. The first half ended with Oman leading 1-0.

In the second half, Oman added two more goals through Mahmoud al Hasani from a penalty in the 66th minute, and Yazeed al Rawahi scored the third goal in the 90+2 minute, securing a 3-0 victory for Oman.

With this win, Oman increased their points to 19, surpassing Sohar (18 points) for third place, while Al Wahda remained at 7 points in the 11th position, just above the bottom.

The strongest match of the tenth round between Al Seeb and Al Nahda was postponed due to Al Nahda's commitment to the Lebanese Al Ahed match in the fifth round of the AFC Cup.
