A day of national accord

One can only be blind to see each day as a similar one! Every day is a different one as it brings a surprise of its own. It is just a matter of paying attention to the surprise of each single day. However, the National Day is unlike any other day of the year. It is definitely beyond description; it reminds us the glorious history of the great nation. Perhaps, one’s hands and mind are unbelievably iced-up while the heart is beating with overjoy to express its profound feelings. It is like on cloud nine with pride and delight.

The National Day of Oman marks a memorable record for our nation; it is a day of honour to the nation and its people indeed. It has a special and precious impact on us for as we commemorate 53 years of the Omani blessed Renaissance. The day is very auspicious for the citizens and residents alike for the prosperity and stability, which the Sultanate of Oman has achieved over the past decades since the late Sultan Qaboos ascended to the throne.

It is a day of thanksgiving for the late Sultan Qaboos for building the new Oman with his far-sighted and prosperous reign. Likewise, the day marks the time to commend the wise governance of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik during the past years of his leadership.

The day also brings the time to reaffirm loyalty to our benevolent leader and compassionate father His Majesty Sultan Haitham who is continuing the legacy and leading the nation to a further success and glory. Hence, the National Day is the time to renew our pledge to safeguard, consolidate and take active part in the on-going efforts of nation-building march.

November 18 stands as a day of national accord as every nook and corner of the country erupts in joy and pride. Though, no festivities have been observed across the country to commemorate the 53rd National Day anniversary due to Oman’s honourable stand along with the Palestinians’ suffering. Yet, the day portrayed a clear picture of the citizens’ spirit of loyalty and unity to serve their nation and loyalty to the Sultan. This admirable spirit symbolised social concord and harmony in the Sultanate of Oman.

As a matter of fact, such communal accord reflects Oman’s traditions and the close social cohesion that exist among the members of the Omani community. Accordingly, this, positively helped in forming a collaborative work between the government and its citizens in building the nation since the days of the Omani Renaissance. This was obviously endorsed by the late Sultan Qaboos as he stated once, “The Government and the people are as one body. If one of its limbs fails to do its duty, the other parts of the body will suffer”.

Similarly, His Majesty Sultan Haitham stimulated the same, “Nation building and development are a public responsibility that requires the commitment of all, without exempting any one from their role, in their respective specialties, and within their capabilities”. The whole nation has to be proud of the leaders who have transformed Oman to be a renowned nation worldwide. This has undoubtedly given the country and its people a regional and international respect. Further, the remarkable achievements that the Sultanate of Oman has witnessed in different spheres of life are far beyond the feelings of pride.

With no single doubt, Omanis are very proud to be a part of a nation that has achieved globally admired progress. We Omanis have many reasons to be grateful and proud of our beloved country. Oman is the land that defines our identity; a land that we belong to and certainly will be devote to serve and protect. Salute to the nation on the 53rd National Day and happy birthday to Oman and its fellow citizens.
