90 members of Shura Council take oath

 
Muscat: The newly-elected members of Majlis Ash'shura held an extraordinary session to elect a chairman and two deputy chairmen for the Council’s 10th term (2023-2027), on Thursday.

During the session, a total of 90 members of the Majlis have taken oath, vowing to be committed, sincere and loyal to the Sultan and the homeland.

According to the figures released by the Majlis, the number of Shura members holding PhD are six, members with Master degree are 19, 26 with Bachelor degree, while 34 are Diploma holders.

The majority of the Shura members fall in the age group (50-60) years old, constituting 42.22 per cent of the total members.

Meanwhile, electing the chairmen and his deputies will be conducted electronically as the oldest member will preside over the session if he is not a candidate wishing to contest the position of chairman or deputy chairman. The extraordinary session’s chairman will be assisted by two younger members.
