'I don’t need Google because my wife knows it all'

THE CHANGING WORLD

Last week, as my wife and I were moving around one of the largest furnishing stores, I laughed a whole lot when I passed by an elderly man probably in his 80s who was wearing a black t-shirt boldly reading, 'I don’t need Google because my wife knows it all.'

Honestly, this cracked me up, and I just could not help myself. Where do people get such items?

The combination of his age, his innocent old looks, and his t-shirt were enough to be living proof of marital life.

My wife looked at me, appalled. She was lost and wondering, at the same time, what was making me laugh hard yet silently. However, the old man was gone already.

I did not tell her, wishing that she would see it on her own. Luckily, at the cash counter, we saw the man again, and she was amazed, though she too laughed about it.

Fast forwarding to days later, as we were having lunch, my 7-year-old son told me that with Google, everything is made easy and that that is exactly how he knows everything.

Realistically speaking, I have started believing that with the help of Google, anyone can treat himself or herself with manageable illnesses at home. Anyone can be a writer, a chef, or even a mechanic if he or she is literate.

Just like that day when my car suddenly stopped in the middle of the road. My wife told me that the fuel pump was spoiled, which was true after professional mechanics checked it.

Later on, I learned that whichever problem she faces, she always runs to Google. This is not limited to the sumptuous meals she prepares for us but also to other issues.

Nowadays, with the help of Google, you can go to the garage to fix your car after knowing the possible problems and their solutions; likewise, you can enter a doctor’s room while knowing what possible health issues you may be having and their treatment.

Furthermore, before starting a business, you can literally know the pros and cons prior to making the final decision. The list is endless, but the powerful truth is that 'Google is everything'.

However, after writing all this, I still contradict the old man’s t-shirt. It was funny, but not the reality because Google is a powerful search engine that helps you with a vast amount of information.

Till next time, adieu.
