Fakhama Touch wins in Digital Economy

MUSCAT: In a recent achievement that highlights the growing significance of digital innovation, Fakhama Touch, an Omani tech company, has been honoured with the 2023 Youth Excellence Award in the field of digital economy.

The award, presented by His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, recognises the company’s outstanding contributions to digital innovation in Oman.

Fakhama Touch, operating under the trademark “C Joneal,” emerged as the winner of this prestigious award in the 4th edition of the Youth Excellence Award. The award ceremony celebrated the achievements of Omani youth across various categories and sectors.

The company’s founder, Prof Al Zahraa bint Rashid al Fahdiyah, shared insights into their journey to winning this coveted award.

She described how their participation initially stemmed from a broader initiative, the “Digital Youth Initiative,” which was initiated in 2022.

The primary goal of this initiative is to foster a culture of embracing emerging technologies and entrepreneurship among the new generation.

Prof Al Zahra explained how the “Digital Youth” programme selects students from universities and colleges, as well as recent graduates, and provides them with hands-on training through a dedicated “Tech Lab.”

This training covers a range of cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence and virtual reality, with a focus on raising the tech awareness of the participants and expanding their entrepreneurial horizons. The initiative also targets enabling young Omanis to invest their skills and experiences in serving the community and driving advancements in technology.

To make this initiative a reality, Fakhama Touch invested in training its employees, and eventually young Omanis, at specialised institutes both within and outside Oman.

This comprehensive training equipped the participants with the necessary skills to use state-of-the-art technologies effectively.

However, one of the major challenges was procuring the resources required for the initiative, particularly the high costs associated with obtaining the latest technologies and devices. With the support of their family, Fakhama Touch began with a modest number of devices, such as virtual reality headsets and modern screens.

Over time, they expanded their tech capabilities to include robotics and holograms, continuously striving to stay on the cutting edge of technological advancements.

The “New Generation Tech Center” project, under the umbrella of Fakhama Touch, plays a significant role in equipping the youth with the skills and tools necessary to build a responsible, innovative, and creative generation.

In the rapidly evolving world of technology, initiatives like this are crucial to preparing the younger generation for the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.
