Excitement builds for the second Al Batinah film fest

 
In a vibrant celebration of cinematic artistry, the eagerly awaited 2nd Al Batinah International Film Festival is set to captivate audiences in Nakhal, commencing on November 12. Organized by the dedicated team at the Al Batinah International Film Festival, the event promises four days of cinematic brilliance, featuring renowned artists and movie stars hailing from Oman, the Gulf countries, and the Arab world.

Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Hamid Al Ameri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Cinema Society and President of the Festival, this remarkable event aims to enrich Oman's cultural landscape by fostering a deeper understanding of cinema. Dr. Al Ameri emphasized the festival's significance in promoting Omani cinematic talent, be it in writing, directing, or acting. Notably, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be the honored guest cinema, enhancing the festival's international allure.

Saif Al Hadhrami, CEO of Nakhal National Company, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, 'Hosting the film festival in the South Al Batinah Governorate reflects the collaborative efforts of the Omani Film Society and other art institutions. Together, we are revitalizing the cinematic movement, transforming it into engaging tourism projects that enrich Oman's cultural tapestry. We warmly invite all enthusiasts to partake in these cultural festivities across the Sultanate of Oman.'



The festival's identity, as described by Festival Director Mohammed Al Ajmi, beautifully intertwines people, place, and time, symbolized by the warm hues of copper representing the region's historical significance. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the festival is set to host esteemed figures from the film industry, including Ashraf Zaki, Rogina, Abdul Mohsen Al-Nimr, and film critic Salah Al-Nouri. Participants from 16 countries, such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, and Bahrain, will compete in various categories, showcasing a diverse array of cinematic brilliance.

Beyond the screenings, the festival boasts a rich array of activities, including workshops, dialogue sessions, and forums, providing a platform for learning and collaboration. Seven prestigious awards, including the Ministry of Information Award and the Ain Platform, will recognize outstanding contributions in various categories. The festival also introduces four awards, reflecting the public's opinions and preferences, adding an exciting element of audience participation.



The festival's vibrant itinerary includes a grand opening ceremony featuring specially curated films and engaging discussions. Subsequent days will witness enlightening biographical sessions with industry luminaries like Professor Dr. Ashraf Zaki and Omani artist Fakhriya Khamis. Attendees can also enjoy captivating film screenings at WOW Cinema in the Grand Center Barka and Fox Cinema in Sohar. The festival will conclude on its fourth day with a thought-provoking critique session, biographical discussions, and a grand awards ceremony set against the picturesque backdrop of the ancient Nakhal Castle.
