Muscat: In a concerted effort to support cancer patients and raise awareness about the battle against cancer, the Oman Cancer Association, in collaboration with the Omani Cycling Association, recently organised a charity bicycle ride aptly named ‘Every Step Counts.’ The event, held on a Saturday morning, brought together a diverse group of riders spanning all ages and backgrounds, from seasoned professionals to novice enthusiasts. Their common mission was to carry the torch of hope and demonstrate solidarity with those impacted by cancer.
The starting point for this journey was the Oman Cancer Association headquarters. From there, participants embarked on a 30-kilometre ride that culminated at Al Mouj Muscat roundabout, where an atmosphere of enthusiasm and positivity permeated the air.
Dr Wahid al Kharusi, President of the Oman Cancer Association, emphasised that the ride aimed to underscore the importance of early cancer detection and treatment while fostering a strong sense of community support for cancer patients and their families. The association's ongoing efforts to provide essential care and improve the quality of life for individuals battling cancer were also highlighted during the event.
Khalifa al Jabri, Vice-President of the Omani Cycling Association, expressed pride in participating in this philanthropic endeavour, which united diverse members of the community in support of a critical cause. In the youth training centre in North Al Batinah, the youth team, under-23 champion Mohammed al Wahaibi, cycling team captain Abdul Rahman al Yaqoubi, and national team coaches participated in the event.
