MUSCAT: The Environment Authority continues conducting a survey of the sooty falcon which aims to determine their numbers by attaching rings on them and taking accurate measurements of their nests.
The survey aims at following up and identifying the life of the sooty falcon as well as obtaining information and data regarding its numbers, reproduction, food, and the threats they are facing. The survey is conducted in cooperation with specialised local and international organisations.
The sooty falcon is a near-threatened bird as their numbers are declining globally. It lives in the Middle East and northeastern Africa region and spends the winter on the southeastern coast of Africa and the Republic of Madagascar. — ONA
