Corinna Hartmann, a nurse hailing from the picturesque northern German town of Quedlinburg, is on a mission to introduce German tourists to the enchanting beauty of Salalah.

Known for its medieval streets, castles and historical artifacts, Quedlinburg has nurtured Corinna’s passion for tourism, which she has now combined with her career as a children’s nurse.

Starting next month, as the cruise tourism season kicks off, Corinna plans to engage with tourists from AIDA Cruises and offer them tailor-made excursions in Salalah.

It’s a challenge she's excited to take on, as every cruise ship has a different layover time in Salalah.

To make this venture a success, Corinna collaborates closely with Abdullah Subah, a local tour operator with over 15 years of experience in the tourism industry.

Together, they customise tour schedules to ensure cruise guests can fully explore the natural wonders of Dhofar and Salalah City, both east and west, during their shore excursions and mountain safari tours.

For the upcoming season, they are even planning week-long group tours. This features full-day desert excursions and overnight stays in desert camps. These experiences immerse visitors in Omani culture, including overnight stays in Bedouin camps, exploration of emerald green lagoons, traversing the mountain region, and a journey along the famous incense road.

City tours are also on the itinerary, offering a glimpse into the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, old and new Salalah, and refreshing breaks at the renowned fruit stands. Guests can also relish visits to mountain and coastal viewpoints, frankincense trails, and a scenic drive to the picturesque Fazayah beach and Dahariz beach.

“We want to showcase Oman’s tourism potential and the beauty of Dhofar Governorate to Germans who have no idea about Salalah. Our package is impressive, and they should come back to visit again. We aim to create lasting impressions in a short time and inspire with our tagline ‘Salalah for your holiday,’” Corinna shares.

The influx of day tourists, sometimes numbering up to 3,000 people, plays a pivotal role in the local economy. Abdullah’s vision is to promote local tourism to foreigners from Germany and other European countries.

Corinna and Abdullah have been working tirelessly with tourists since last year, and they have also launched a new website, subah-tours-salalah.com, to welcome even more tourists to southern Oman.

As different groups of cruise tourists prepare to arrive in October, the duo plans to take them on a captivating journey to the east side of Salalah, including a visit to the popular valley of Dhofar Governorate.

Corinna’s love affair with Oman began during the coronavirus pandemic when she first visited the country. Despite the initial challenges, including a week-long quarantine in Salalah, she fell in love with the unique landscape and the kindness of the citizens. Two years later, in 2021, she made Salalah her second home.

“From the depths of my heart, I am in love with Oman and want to introduce people to this beautiful country. This is how my journey of bringing tourists to Oman began,” Corinna enthusiastically shares. She also hopes to experience the Khareef season in Salalah, as cruise visits typically last only a day or two, offering limited exposure to this unique aspect of the region.
