Coordinated efforts bring nearly a million visitors to Dhofar

Dhofar: The Khareef tourist season in Dhofar Governorate drew 924,000 visitors this year, a 17 percent increase from the previous year.
HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, said: “ The increase in visitors number came as a result of great efforts and integrated action by various sectors and employees who worked around the clock to ensure the readiness of service facilities in different wilayats and areas of Dhofar Governorate. They made sure to provide entertaining, cultural, and social events that targeted all segments of tourists.”
His Highness affirmed that tourism in Dhofar is not restricted to one season as the governorate boasts fine weather all around the year. He noted that the governorate witnessed varied activities that targeted children, women, and young people.
The governor of Dhofar praised small and medium enterprises, volunteers, and job-seekers for the efforts they exerted and the initiatives they presented to make the season a success. He also hailed the Royal Oman Police (ROP) for ensuring order and security and easing traffic on Dhofar roads.
HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, valued the role of media which, he said, had an important role in the success of the season expressing his thanks to all media outlets and social media celebrities from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman for the high-quality media coverage they provided to them during the season.
The data indicate that the number of Omani visitors increased by 16.4 percent to reach 656,119. GCC visitors reached 156,953 compared to 134,309 during the same period in 2022.
Meanwhile, visitors from other nationalities stood at 111,055, constituting a rise when compared to 95,017 visitors in the previous year.
As many as 714,520 visitors arrived at the Governorate of Dhofar through land port, while 209,607 visitors arrived through air flights, which comprised a rise of 36 percent to the number of arrivals through air flights during the corresponding period in 2022. Moreover, 57 percent of Khareef Dhofar season’s visitors arrived during the month of August.
