Weather: Oman Met issues heatwave warning

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman is preparing to endure a significant rise in temperatures over the next two days, with the nation under the influence of a dominating high-pressure system, according to the Oman Meteorological Office.
In a weather advisory issued on Sunday, the Oman Meteorological Office warned that the presence of the high-pressure system is expected to push temperatures to soaring levels. Meteorologists have urged residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, and seek shelter during peak heat hours.
Meanwhile, the latest weather data reported by the Oman Meteorological Office said Saiq station experienced the lowest recorded temperature in the past 24 hours, with a relatively cooler 20.2ºC. In stark contrast, Dima wa'taeen and Al-Sunaina bore the brunt of the scorching sun, registering the highest temperature recorded yesterday, at a sweltering 42.8ºC.
Authorities urged those who work outside to follow necessary precautions to avoid heatstroke.
