Meeting held to attract investment in transportation and logistics sectors

MUSCAT:The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and the Civil Aviation Authority, in cooperation with the National Programmer Investment and Export Development (Nazdaher) and the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, organized yesterday in Muscat an introductory meeting for a number of companies and individuals working in the transport and logistics sectors, as a preparatory step for workshops and clinics to attract investment in transport and logistics, scheduled to be held next October.
Engineer Khamis bin Mohammed al Shamakhi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Transport, reviewed at the beginning of the meeting the challenges facing the transport and logistics sectors, the proposed solutions for them, and new investment opportunities. The meeting included a visual presentation on the current situation of the sector. Logistics in the Sultanate of Oman and investment projects in this sector, in addition to presenting indicators of the logistics sector to improve the position of the Sultanate of Oman, and investment opportunities in the ports and maritime affairs sector, the land transport sector, logistics services, the air transport sector and the most important challenges facing these sectors.
It is noteworthy that the workshops and clinics to attract investment in transport and logistics seek to increase the proportion of investments in these two sectors, improve the attractiveness of the two sectors for Omani cadres, and improve the Sultanate of Oman’s classification in the Logistics Performance Index.
During the investment attraction workshops, a number of government and private institutions will discuss the challenges of ongoing projects and frame new investment opportunities in cooperation with the National Programme for Investment and Export Development (Nazdaher) team, in addition to working on the possibilities that achieve the desired goals of this meeting. — ONA
