SALALAH: The Director General of the Arab Labour Organization (ALO), Fayez Ali al Mutairi, has called for safe and healthy workplaces for all workers in the Arab world.
Al Mutairi made the call in a speech at a forum on occupational health and safety in Salalah on Sunday. He said that the ALO is committed to achieving social justice and improving working conditions for all workers. He pointed to the ALO's 19 conventions and 9 recommendations on occupational health and safety, which he said promote the principles of decent work, reduce inequalities, and guarantee a minimum level of social insurance.

'The right to a safe and healthy work environment is a fundamental human right,' Al Mutairi said. 'I call on all stakeholders to work together to ensure that all workers in the Arab world have access to safe and healthy workplaces.'
The forum was organised by the ALO and the Ministry of Labour with the support of Oman Chamber of Commerce, and Huawei. It brought together representatives from government, employers, and workers to discuss ways to improve occupational health and safety in the Arab world.
