Salalah forum to empowering water regulation in the GCC

SALALAH, AUG 21

Water regulators of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states are due to gather here to take part in the Independent Water Regulatory Forum, which takes place during August 22 – 23, 2023. The two forum, which opens under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, seeks to facilitate the exchange of expertise, share pioneering experiences, and discuss developmental visions in water regulation.

The event is being co-hosted by the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) of the Sultanate of Oman and the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. Notably, a distinguished assembly of experts from Oman and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf will grace the occasion with their presence.

Spanning a span of two days, the forum aspires to achieve two key objectives: enhancing mutual understanding among industry stakeholders and refining the policies that govern the water sector. The discussions will revolve around four pivotal domains, each crucial to advancing water regulation. These encompass the regulatory landscape of the water sector in GCC countries, the art of water quality management, strategies to augment efficiency and performance within the sector, and the critical theme of fostering sustainable water management.

As part of the proceedings there will be 13 research papers, each casting a spotlight on autonomous water regulation within GCC nations.
