Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) has launched a promotional campaign for the Investor Residency Program, highlighting its benefits at Muscat and Salalah international airports.
The Investor Residency Program grants foreign investors and retirees the right to long-term residence in the Sultanate of Oman for a period of 5 or 10 years, subject to renewal. To obtain an investor residency card, the application must be submitted through the website https://tejarah.gov.om/InvestorResidency.
Investors who obtain an investor residency card can avail a number of advantages, as the investor is granted the right to own one property outside the Integrated Tourism Complexes (ITCs), whether for residential, commercial, or industrial purposes, and it is transferable to others, with the exception of the ownership of land that is prohibited for non-Omanis.
The investor is granted the right to reside with his family (first degree) without specifying the number of family members and without specifying the age.
The holder of an 'investor residency' has the right to use a special countermarked for investor residency card holders at airports and will be allowed to issue visitor visas for relatives.
They can also carry out economic activities or work in the Sultanate and do not require a sponsor to obtain a private work visa, besides being able to bring in domestic workers in private professions.
Over 2,500 investor residence cards have been to people of various nationalities under the 10-year, and 5-year categories since the launch of the program in 2021.
