OHA unveils U17 Handball League schedule

The Oman Handball Association (OHA) Competition Committee has officially released the comprehensive schedule, tournament structure, regulations, and prerequisites for the upcoming Under-17 Handball League for players born in 2006, 2007 and 2008. The league is set to

take place during the sports season of 2023-24, promising an exciting showcase of emerging talent in handball.

This league will feature the participation of six dynamic clubs: Nizwa, Seeb, Muscat, Saham, Ibri and Al Ittihad. The teams have been divided into two distinct groups to facilitate competitive matches and enhance the overall experience for both players and fans.

In Group A, Seeb, Muscat and Al Ittihad will compete. Group B, on the other hand, comprises the dedicated teams of Saham, Ibri and Nizwa. The league is scheduled to kick off on August 25 at the Nizwa Sports Complex. The opening game will see Nizwa and Saham go

head-to-head.

The league will be in a round-robin format within each group, with the top two teams from each group earning the advance to the second round. The leader of Group A will engage in a thrilling match against the second-placed team of Group B. Similarly, the victor of Group B

will face the runner-up of Group A. Additionally, the losers will compete for the third and fourth positions, while the winners will vie for the first and second positions.

The league points will be awarded as follows: the winning team will get two points, a draw earns one point, and the losing team will not earn any points.

The Oman Handball Association has allocated a range of prizes and rewards for exceptional clubs securing top positions in the league. The championship title holder will be presented with a commemorative shield or trophy, a collection of 28 gold medals and a financial reward. The

second-place team will receive 28 silver medals, a gift and a financial prize. Likewise, the third-place achiever will be honoured with 28 bronze medals, a gift and a financial incentive.
