EA detects 80 cases of encroachment on vegetation cover in Dhofar

Since the launch of the Environmental Protection Initiative this year for Khareef Dhofar, the Environment Authority has found 80 cases of encroachment on vegetation cover and has received 21 reports from citizens.

The initiative came in its second edition to enhance efforts to protect the environment and preserve the elements of wildlife due to the influx of visitors and tourists to Dhofar Governorate during the fall season. It aims to control the bad practices and behaviours that may harm the environment and its green spaces.

The Authority aims to raise the cultural level of citizens and tourists and monitor practices for a clean, sustainable environment during the fall season. In addition, it educates citizens, residents and tourists about the impacts of wrong environmental behaviours and practices on the environment.

The Authority calls to raise and strengthen the social responsibility of preserving wildlife and green spaces.

A field team supervises the initiative to monitor and inspect a number of sites targeted by the governorate's tourists. The initiative consists of field teams distributed over several regions in the Dhofar Governorate. Meanwhile, the 'Environment Guardians' campaign is going on to protect the environmental diversity in the governorate, stressing the importance of preserving the environment, not encroaching on green areas, not cutting down trees, and ensuring that waste is not randomly thrown.
