Oman Beach team keep shape ahead of friendly meet in Belarus

MUSCAT: With over seven months left for the top assignment at the 2024 Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup in Dubai city, Oman beach soccer team’s preparations are under way in the sands court at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. The national team, coached under the long serving national coach Talib Hilal, began their training sessions on Friday and will conclude on Tuesday (August 1, 2023). The coaching staff focused in the earlier days of the camp on the physical and fitness sides of the players after the team back to action since two months of absence.
Oman beach soccer team confirmed their participation at the friendly beach soccer matches, which will be held in Belarus from August 4 to 14. The preparatory meet will feature attendance of some qualified teams to the 2024 Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup in UAE including Egypt and the hosts UAE. The Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup will be held from February 15-25, 2024. The preparatory event in Belarus will act as a suitable event for the team to take on more friendly matches ahead of the Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup.
Coach Talib Hilal will lead Oman for their fifth time at Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup and third in succession. The winner of Beach Soccer Asian Cup in 2015 will look for a different show in this edition of the world-class event and chase up for high targets. The national experienced coach Talib Hilal opted 12 players for the domestic camp which included namely:
Khaid al Araimi, Munthir al Araimi, Yahya al Murikhi, Amjad al Hamdani, Abdullah al Souti, Sami al Balushi, Nouh al Zadjali, Younis al Owaisi, Mishaal al Araimi, Al Yaqdhan al Hindasi, Ahmed al Owaisi and Nouh al Battashi. The majority of the players took part with the team in the last Arab Beach Soccer Championship and ANOC Asian qualifiers. Coach Talib Hilal’s men had ended the Arabian meet as runners-up. The team lost to Egypt 4-2 in the final game of the championship.
Oman began their campaign strongly with a 7-1 win over Palestine in the opening match. Later, the team had received a shock 5-3 loss against Egypt before registering an outstanding 14-0 victory over Kyrgyzstan in the last group match to secure a spot in the quarterfinals. They were second behind toppers Egypt. In the quarterfinals, Oman had managed to edge UAE 5-4 to book a berth in the semifinals. Later, Oman had defeated Morocco 4-2 in the semifinals to confirm their attendance in the final match. In another key event at ANOC World Beach Games, Oman’s beach soccer men team missed the chance to attend in the ANOC Games as they had lost to UAE 3-2 in a tight clash in the Asian qualifiers.
