Students of ABMIS excel with 99.44% in GED exams

69% of students achieve mean score above 90

 
MUSCAT: Nearly all students studying at Ahmad bin Majid International School (ABMIS) highly excelled with an outstanding record of 99.44 per cent in the second semester of General Education Diploma (GED) exams 2022/2023.

Among the girls, two students tied up with the highest scores of 99.44 per cent. They included Al Zahra bint Saud al Badaai and Fatima bint Samir al Karaa. Jeenan bint Khamis al Hashemi secured the 3rd rank with an average of 98.44 per cent followed by Aisha bint Yousuf al Farsi and Falak bint Sulaiman al Busaidi with an average of 98.33 per cent.

The highest rank among the boys was secured by Al Munther bin Khalid al Ghammari with an average of 99.22 per cent while Ghaith bin Matar al Balushi took the second place with an average of 98 per cent. Abdullah bin Khalifa al Farsi got an average of 97.78 per cent, Hamed bin Khamis al Alawi secured 97.56 per cent on average even as Zahran bin Mohamed al Maawali ranked 5th with an average of 97.33 per cent.

About 41 per cent of students excelled with an A+ marks ranging between 95–100 per cent, while 28 per cent of students secured an A mark of 90–94 per cent. Only 18 students scored B marks – within an average range of 80–89 per cent.

In general, 39 girls secured an average of 91.74 per cent and 44 boys secured an average of 90.81 per cent among a total of 83 students who sat for the GED exams.

According to the Chairman of the Board of ABMIS, Najim bin Mohammed al Timami, annually, the school sees excellent improvement among the top achievers. 'Results have continuously been improving, this year being better than last year with more than two thirds of around 69 per cent of our students achieved a mean score of A+ and A,' he said.

'No doubt, all are expected to get admission to higher education colleges and universities within the Sultanate and others to some of the most reputable universities abroad following the footsteps of our alumni,' he added.

The success of the school to attain outstanding results is attributable to its history.

Ahmad bin Majid established in 1991, offers the Omani national curriculum, as well as the Cambridge (Primary and Secondary Checkpoints, IGCSE, Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and A Levels) curriculum since 2007. Since 2006, ABMIS was established as the first Centre for Assessment of Cambridge International Education in the Sultanate and the 3rd in the Middle East Region to provide Primary Check Point Cambridge Education Programme, noted Al Timami.
