Regarding the working hours of the slaughterhouses, they will be designated for individuals and companies as follows:
- Sunday (Dhul Hijjah 7 - June 25, 2023) from 6 am to 2 pm for individuals, while the period allocated to companies will be from 7 pm to midnight.
- Monday to Tuesday (Dhul Hijjah 8-9 - June 26-27, 2023) from 7 am to 2 pm for individuals, and for companies from 3 pm to 9 pm.
With the aim of speeding up the mechanism of the slaughtering and handing-over process and to avoid increasing pressure, the first and second days of Eid al-Adha (June 28-29) will be set to receive the public only. The morning period from 7 am to 2 pm will be allocated for the slaughter of livestock (sheep and goats only), while the evening period from 4 pm to 8 pm will be specified for the slaughter of cows and camels only.
Muscat Municipality reiterated that it is very important to slaughter livestock in slaughterhouses in order to safeguard the health of people and prevent zoonotic diseases. The municipality has also instructed people not to deal with unlicensed butchers who might adopt a slaughtering process that does not meet health requirements.
Meanwhile, the public is advised not to cause environmental damage by disposing of slaughter residues in undesignated places or pens and by shedding blood in public areas, as this can distort the general view and emit unpleasant odors.
