Omani delegation visits Italy and Switzerland to explore and promote investment opportunities

 
MUSCAT: Mohsin bin Hamad al Hadhrami, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, headed an official delegation to the Republic of Italy, to discuss cooperation, consolidate bilateral ties, promote investments and exchange knowledge in the sectors of renewable energy, hydrogen and energy storage systems with leading companies, institutions and institutes in Italy.

The visit included a series of meetings with a number of leading Italian companies in the field of energy, during which opportunities for cooperation and joint investment in various energy fields were reviewed.

Views and experiences were also exchanged with Italian companies, focusing on sustainable technologies and innovations in the energy sector. The importance of joint cooperation in promoting investments in the energy sector and achieving sustainable development was also emphasised.

This visit also represents an important step towards achieving cooperation in the field of sustainability to enhance bilateral cooperation in the sector, strengthen economic ties between the two countries, and develop strategic partnerships that benefit both sides and enhance their capabilities in the field of energy.

It should be noted that the Italian companies visited have extensive experience in the energy field, and are known for their progress in sustainable technologies in the fields of renewable energy, green hydrogen and energy storage systems, as the Sultanate of Oman seeks to promote technology and innovation in the energy sector, and achieve sustainable development goals in line with Plans and programmes of the Sultanate of Oman in this context.

The delegation continued its visit to Switzerland to participate in the Business Forum of the Omani-Swiss Friendship Association, which aims to highlight best practices and discuss future expectations in key sectors such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, storage systems and carbon neutrality.



During the meeting, Al Hadhrami highlighted the vision of the Sultanate of Oman in the field of transition to a green economy in support of an environment conducive to green investments.

Dr Firas al Abdwani, Director General of the Directorate General of Renewable Energy and Hydrogen at the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, gave a presentation on the strategy of the Sultanate of Oman in the field of green hydrogen, reviewing the efforts made by the country to promote the use of green hydrogen as a means to achieve sustainability in the energy sector, as well as reviewing investment opportunities in Renewable energy and green hydrogen in the Sultanate of Oman.

The forum also discussed the investment opportunities, expertise and capabilities that the Sultanate of Oman possesses to achieve success in the field of hydrogen and renewable energy, where a group of specialists, investors and those interested in this field participated in the discussion.

The participants presented practical examples of cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and Switzerland in the field of green hydrogen and negative emission technologies, and the exchange of experiences and knowledge in these areas.

A mini-discussion session entitled “Oman and Switzerland: Best Practices of Technology Transfer, Investment and Cooperation” was held, in which a group of experts and specialists participated. Best practices in technology transfer, investment and promotion of cooperation between the two countries in these fields were reviewed.
