Oman, Iran TT paddlers teams in comprehensive joint camp

 
MUSCAT, June 17

The Oman paddlers teams are underway in the domestic training programme in Muscat at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. The camp is a joint gathering between Omani and Iranian players as many world ranking paddlers from Iran national TT team are taking part in the preparatory camp.

The training camp under supervision of Oman national head coach, Omid Shams Shaharbabki, and the national women head coach, Fatemeh Kivani beside attendance of Dr. Ali, physical trainer from Iran. The camp started on Monday following the ITTF training camp which concluded in Muscat last week and will run until Tuesday. The nine-day camp featured two training sessions in daily basis during morning and evening sessions.

The aim of the camp is to shape the readiness of the players for the forthcoming events as Oman’s paddlers will take part in different regional and global championships including: Asian Youth TT Championship in Qatar in July, Arabian TT Championship in Iraq end of July and beginning of August, Asian TT Championship for Senior in South Korea and WTT events in Jordan and Kazakhstan.



The camp focused on implementing the latest methodology in improving techniques and tactics of the participants and working to increase the consistency within rallies and adapting to the playing conditions. During the couple days ago of the warm up camp, the paddlers gained the required technical skills, tactics, and strategies of game situations. The players in the camp instructed on understanding and anticipation of every move during the game. The camp is playing a crucial training tool as the local paddlers are enhancing their performance through learning from the Iranian participants.

The Iranian Omid Shams Shaharbabki, Oman TT head coach, said that this training camp is a different technical camp than the other gatherings. “ It will be a great opportunity for Omani players to play and train against top players from Iran. Moreover, this camp featured attendance of players from different age group categories which enable the junior players to take on some tight matches against the seniors. This will help them to raise their technical and tactic levels for playing in the international events,” he said.

Coach Shams pointed out that this gathering will assist the players to enhance their technical performance level. “ We will have different sessions to stand on the weakness areas and how to develop them beside enhancing the strength points,” he concluded.
