Oman Beach Handball team gearing up for Bali World Beach Games

Oman Beach Handball team players will report back to their training sessions again as they will have an internal preparatory camp in Sur during June 17 to 22. The team players were busy for many days in their intensive domestic preparatory camp which started on June 3 in Muscat under supervision of the long serving head coach Hamoud al Hasani. The training sessions took place in the sand courts at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex during evening session.
The ongoing training sessions are part of preparation for crucial events including: World Beach Games, Bali 2023 during August 5 to 12, under Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), Men’s Beach Handball World Championships in June 2024 in Spain under the International Handball Federation (IHF).
As per the approved preparatory programme by Oman Handball Association (OHA), the handball beach team players will have a short camp on June 25 and 26 in Muscat. Then, the players will have a break for Eid holidays. Later, the squad will report back to the training sessions in beginning of July at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher before moving to Al Musannah for another comprehensive camp during July 15 to 21.
The last domestic camp will be in Bausher from July 23 until 27, ahead of travelling for abroad camp in Thailand or Vietnam, to be confirmed soon, then the team will head off to Bali city for a short camp ahead of the ANOC Games start.
During the underway local training camps, the coaching staff led by coach Hamoud al Hasani and assisted by the former player Jaber al Balushi worked hard to shape the players readiness for the closest event represented by ANOC Games. The daily technical practices focused in different technical and tactical areas.
As many as 16 top players were opted by the head coach. The selected squad comprised many top experienced players who are ready and confident in playing at the world class events. The squad: Nasr al Tamtami, Asad al Hasani, Abdulhakeem al Siyabi, Muhanad al Zarafi, Mahdi al Sulaimani, Said al Hasani, Nawaf al Hasani, Bashar al Hinai, Yasser al Harthi, Mohammed al Balushi, Hudhifa al Siyabi, Osama al Kasbi, Ahmed al Hinai, Azzan al Maashari, Hani al Dughaishi and Ahmed al Ghailani.
Oman beach handball team last presence was in the Asian Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball Championship, which concluded on March in Bali city, Indonesia. Coach Hamoud al Hasani’s men had delivered an impressive show and Oman had finished their campaign in the Asian event as runners-up. In the final clash, Oman lost the game 2-0 against Qatar while Iran team claimed the bronze medals and Vietnam finished in fourth place.
