Road maintenance projects underway as Dhofar braces for Khareef Season

 
SALALAH: The Directorate-General of Roads and Land Transport in Dhofar Governorate, is carrying out road construction and rehabilitation projects with the aim of providing safe infrastructure in preparation for the 2023 Khareef Season.



Engineer Said bin Mohammed Tabouk, Director-General of Roads and Land Transport in Dhofar Governorate, said that cumulative implementation rate reached 31 per cent at the rehabilitation of Argut Sarfeet road in the Wilayat of Dhalkout at a cost of RO 11.36 million. The project is expected to be completed in the middle by the end of next year.



The projects involve construction of viaducts at Wadi Adonab in the Wilayat of Salalah at a cost of RO 1.5 million. The construction of Afoul bridge in the Wilayat of Rakhyout, a RO 3.2 million project, is 60 per cent complete and is expected to be complete at the beginning of the fourth quarter of this year, the official said.



The Directorate-General of Roads and Land Transport has expedited road rehabilitation works at various locations within Dhofar Governorate including the annual maintenance project for the paved road network for a five year period at a cost of RO 3 million, the official said noting that tender will continue until June 2027.



Other projects include the annual maintenance project for the mountainous dirt road network, a RO 2.1 million project and the rehabilitation of the desert dirt road network at a cost of RO 2.4 million, the official concluded. — ONA
