MUSCAT: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources revealed that the number of bottled drinking water factories under its control and supervision reached 79 by the end of last year. These factories collectively produce around 6.2 million litres of water daily.
According to the ministry, these factories are dispersed across various governorates, including 10 in Muscat, 9 in Dhofar, 4 in Al Buraimi, 8 in Al Dakhiliyah, 12 in Al Batinah North, 11 in Al Batinah South, 4 in Al Dhahirah, 5 in Al Sharqiyah North, and 1 each in Al Sharqiyah South and Al Wusta.
Recent years have witnessed a significant rise in requests for establishing water purification and bottling plants, indicating the growing demand in line with population growth and development.
The proliferation of these plants underscores their importance as investments aligning with food and water security projects, catering to the increasing needs of the population and supporting industrial activities reliant on water resources.
