OTTA board approves national teams schedule for international events

The board of directors of Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA) approved national teams for international events during its second meeting of the year held on Wednesday in Muscat. Many decisions were also approved during the meeting chaired by Abdullah bin Mohammed Bamakhalef, Chairman of OTTA, in the presence of the board members.

The board approved the teams for this year as the busy schedule is awaiting them while they prepare to take part in different international assignments including Asian Youth Championship, Arabian TT Championship and other major WTT events in the region.

The first participation will be in 27th edition of Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship which will take place in Doha from July 17 to 22 this year. Later, some team members will compete in the 2023 Arabian TT Championship in Iraq from July 28 to August 4. Moreover, Oman’s paddlers will vie in the WTT Youth Contender in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from July 25 to 28. The senior players will attend the 26th Asian Championship in Pyeong Chang in Korea from September 3 to 10. Besides, the junior players will play in the WTT Youth Contender in Amman, Jordan, later this year.

The chairman of OTTA and board members presented Oman’s bid to host WTT Contender for October this year. The board agreed to obtain all the required approvals and permits from the relevant authorities ahead of other technical and logistics arrangements of the event.

The meeting also featured an approval from the board on OTTA delegations for both attendance in the AGM of ITTF in Thailand in August and ATTU in South Korea in September. For the schools league, OTTA board agreed to hold the tournament in different governorates of the Sultanate of Oman in coordination with the Oman Schools Sports Association (OSSA).
