Oman volleyball team shifts gears as Arab Games nears

 
Oman volleyball team is gearing up to take part in the volleyball competitions at the Arab Games which will be held in Algeria during July 5 to 15 and Arab Volleyball Championship in Iraq in September besides the Asian Games in China which will begin on September 23. The national volleyball team, coached by Jamal al Mamari, concluded recently their first part of the preparatory programme for the abroad participations at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.

The domestic camp was held in presence of all the announced squad members including 19 players under direct supervision of national experienced coach Jamal al Mamari and his assistant coach Khalid al Shizawi. The training sessions featured fitness, physical and tactical training sessions that ensured the proper harmony among the national team which comprised mixture of experienced and youth faces.

“The internal camp in Muscat was very vital part in team’s preparation for the next Arabian assignment in Algeria. The next gathering will take place after the completion of the military volleyball league in May end with some friendly games ahead of the event in Algeria. The doors of the national team are open for any players who prove their technical capability and ability to join the team. During the training camp, we worked very hard to evaluate each player’s position in the field and how to create a proper harmony among the experienced and the new players who have been selected to the squad,” national head coach Jamal al Mamari said.

“A special thanks for Oman Volleyball Association (OVA) board directors for their continuous support to the national team. Their close follow-up to the national volleyball team ease the possibility of having many players in the camp and to relieve some military players of attending the training sessions,” he added.

The chairman of OVA, Eng Ibrahim al Maqbali, appreciated the cooperation of the military and governmental entities to allow the team players attendance in the recently concluded training camp in Muscat. “High appreciation to out strategic partners and stakeholders towards registering the success of the domestic preparation camp. Thanks goes to the technical, administrative staff and the players for their top efforts during the camp and we are looking forward to see top performance in the upcoming events including Arab Sports Games in Algeria,” he ended.
