The Food Safety and Quality Center (FSQC) has clarified that the scientific content contained in the audio clips circulated on social media about the safety of agricultural products is incorrect.
It said that there is no pesticide or chemical product that can reduce all stages of growth and development of the fruit in one night, as mentioned in the audio clip.
It also reassures consumers of the existence of vigorous follow-up by the center and from all directorates in the governorates, and in cooperation with the authorities concerned with the food safety and quality system, to monitor and combat any wrong and prohibited agricultural practices, and reduce the use of banned pesticides, through inspection visits, agricultural extension, awareness campaigns.
Sampling and analysis are conducted in the laboratory periodically on the produce from farms or from various sales outlets, in addition to taking legal measures against violators in order to ensure the safety and security of products.
The Center stressed the importance of not spreading or promoting rumors to limit the spread of false information and to avoid legal accountability.
