UTAS-Nizwa, Mashhad Corporation sign MoU

NIZWA: A memorandum of cooperation was signed recently between the University of Technology and Applied Sciences UTAS-Nizwa and Mashhad Corporation for Artistic Production, at the Corporation’s headquarters in Muscat.

The agreement was signed within the framework of strengthening the relationship in various sectors in developing the educational and training process by creating a strong relationship for the exchange of experiences in areas of common interest.

Dr Sara al Bahlani, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and Scientific Research from UTAS-Nizwa, and Mohammed al Harthi, CEO of Mashhad Corporation for Artistic Production, signed the memorandum of cooperation.

The signing event was attended by officials from both the institutions.

The memorandum aims at building abilities, boosting cooperation between the two institutions, exchanging scientific, educational, training and practical experiences and motivating and supporting students’ projects and researches and students’ abilities.

It also aims at creating an opportunity for establishing programmes to encourage students to achieve more advantageous competitions besides mutual sponsorships of events in various media and educational fields.

The students will be benefited with training sessions in the corporation along with field visits and understand all stages of artistic production at the studios.

Dr Khamis Ambusaidi, Faculty member, Department of Mass Communication, UTAS-Nizwa, said: “The memorandum is part of the University’s endeavour to create a cooperative environment between the private sector and the academic institution in which it will fuel the spirit of cooperation and the transfer of practical expertise.”

He also added that the partnership enhances the higher educational journey in the Sultanate of Oman through providing training courses by engaging students in the labour market.

He further added that the University was looking for aiding competencies of students related to education and training, and was doing its hardest to constantly improve the educational process to support the economy based on creative industries.
