Annual e-survey of industrial establishments starts today

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) will start the implementation of the annual survey of industrial establishments for the years - 2020, 2021 and 2022 – over a period of three months from April 9, 2023.

The survey of industrial establishments for this year targets more than 960 industrial establishments in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman from inside and outside the industrial areas, including ports areas, free zones, and the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.

The survey will be submitted electronically by logging into the link: https://survey-tejarah.indstat.org, while the digital system for industrial statistics aims at digitalizing all stages of the industrial survey at the Ministry and contributing to speed and accuracy of access to industrial information.

The implementation of this annual survey comes within the outputs of the manufacturing strategy2040, which relies in its plans on accurate statistics of the industrial sector in the Sultanate of Oman, where its outputs are integrated with the statistics of the National Center for Statistics and Information NCSI.



The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion clarified that, for the third time, the annual industrial survey will be implemented electronically, as part of the ministry's plans for digital transformation, as it will help companies and industrial establishments to deliver their data accurately and facilitating the process of data collection, and it's reviewing and analyzing.

Hamida bint Abdul Hussain al Lawati (pictured), head of the Manufacturing Strategy Implementation and Evaluation Department at the Ministry, said: “Industrial information relies on complete statistical surveys, which have an influential role in following up and evaluating the Manufacturing Strategy 2040. It will also contribute to improving the performance follow-up mechanisms and to know how to take corrective actions for facilities in a timely manner, while the digital system contributes to linking the industrial statistics with the main performance indicators (KPIs) of the Ministry.”

She stressed that these surveys contribute to measuring the growth rates in the manufacturing sector during the coming period, as a result of the continuous efforts and encouragement to adopt modern technologies in the field of industry in order to achieve the required economic diversification and activate the role of non-oil sectors.

Hamida al Lawati added: “The annual surveys of industrial establishments are an essential part of an integrated system for national industrial statistics, as it provides information about establishments and their activities, with the aim of collecting data on all operating and licensed industrial establishments in the Sultanate of Oman, whose investment cost exceeds RO 5,000 and the number of its workers exceeds nine workers.”
